NEWSLETTER January 2015

As always, we hope that you have had a good Christmas and very best New Year wishes go out to you and your families.

Fishing reports at this time of year are always difficult as there are not many members out and about. I bumped into one of our Healey Dell regulars a couple of days ago and even he had not been out since well before Christmas (come on Peter, make an effort lad, you won’t catch owt in ASDAs’). During the Christmas break from work, Stu, our match secretary and fisheries officer, had a short session at the Dell but only managed a handful of fish but on a bitterly cold day, the float went under for him and that’s always good to see in the middle of winter. Following the bank collapse at pegs 1 and 2 at The Dell, we have carried out essential repair work. Trees and bushes on both banks have also been cut back to prevent further bankside corrosion. Further work is needed so please bear with us. Apologies for any inconvenience especially to anyone fishing when work was being done.

Please see the September Newsletter on our website.

The levy does not apply to Juniors. The monies raised by this levy will be spent only on fish. The final date to renew is the 16th February (date of subs meeting). To help Barry with renewals and so we can order the fish quickly, the committee ask that we all make an effort to renew asap, thanks. Both myself (secretary) and Barry (treasurer), will be standing down at the AGM in April. We are therefore looking for volunteers to take up the posts both of which carry an honourarium of £150 per year. Both myself and Barry will be on hand to give all the help needed, so don’t be shy, have a go, it’s most enjoyable. I hope that the weather is kind to us for the rest of the winter and look forward to another season full of promise. Once Again, Best Wishes to you all.

Jim (Secretary).
