NEWSLETTER October 19

Dear Members,

It's been a really busy season so far, membership has increased in size in all categories, Senior - Vets and juniors.

There has been some issues which we as a committee are still dealing with. The lease at Syke has been increased by 25years so this gives us stability to now apply for grants to improve the fishing at this site. We have had issues with cattle at the farm but are seeking assurance to how best to deal with this problem. Currently we have closed 1-5 peg due to a health and safety risk but this is now being reviewed and an application is being completed to improve the pegs as requested by members.

Healey Dell has had Peg 1 upgraded to a disabled peg, the work was carried out by Gareth and Barry Watkins and it brilliant. We have applied for and have been successful in obtaining a township grant to upgrade a further 4 pegs on the water 2 will be disabled and 2 double family pegs and this should be started within the few next months. We are also in the process of purchasing a disabled toilet and Club welfare unit which should be in by early next year. This will benefit all members at the club and can i thank all those involved in the hard work that has been done to achieve this.

Match fishing has been great this year and having attempt to fish in these i can say what a laugh it has been. If anyone hasn't had a chance to fish one of these please have a go. They are not a serious event but more of a light hearted fishing match. the match weights are the best we have seen in some years with all species of fish being caught. The inter club match was won by Whitworth who took the honours both home and away. The junior matches have been a joy to watch this year also with some cracking young anglers coming through the ranks.

I would also like to take chance to thank all the volunteers both on the committee and helpers for the hours and hours of hard work put in this year. Without these people we would not have a club and not waters to fish. I came into the position as president with a 5 year plan and after nearly 2 years on we are well over were i expected to be.
